Established in 1984 as Busch Sails, Lidgard Sails
Japan has always been under the direction of Seiichi
"Buschy" Yoshikawa.
Quickly understanding that modern technology was
crucial to progress in the field of sail design, Buschy
bought his first computerized sail design program
in 1985.
After a few years of activity on its own, Busch Sails
rapidly assessed the advantages of being part of an
international group and in 1991 decided to join the
Lidgard Sails group.
1991 saw another important development, the loft
was equipped with a plotter table to improve design
accuracy in the cutting of the sails.
Lidgard Sails Japan grew rapidly and in 1993 the
need for a new upgrade equally rapidly became obvious.
The plotter table was again upgraded to a cutter table
producing even more accurate sails.
To be able to share sail designs with other members
of the Lidgard Sails Limited group and benefit from
the latest technology, Lidgard Sails Japan is now
equipped with the latest version of the SailMaker
design program.
