Lidgard appointed Sail Designer/Loft Manager.
With a budget up to 6 times smaller than most
of the opposition, "Tag Heuer" was
3rd in Challenger semi-finals. Only one mainsail
was used throughout 3 Round Robins, one headsail
did 36 windward beats.

- 1981 - 1982 : "Ceramco New Zealand",
Peter Blake, full inventory, Lost her mast on the
first leg winner of the t wwo Southern Ocean legs,
no sail failure during the race, all other 29 entrants
had a minimum of two major sail failures.
- 1993 - 1994 : 2 identical Whitbread 60
